MTI Hands-On Center

These courses are taught at our hands-on training center located at 2860 Ogletown Road, Newark, DE  19711.  The training center has over $200K worth of full size industrial equipment to allow “hands-on” work. Classes offered in the training center are, for the most part, dedicated to a “hands-on” approach. When the course involves a large percentage of “hands-on” activities, the class attendees will spend time turning wrenches, using precision measurement instruments, taking meter readings and using shop issued tools to tear equipment down and rebuild it. When actual “hands-on” activities aren't possible (examples: boiler training, cooling tower training), we supplant our classes from our 287+ title video library to provide a real time view of mechanics performing “hands-on” work in a field situation.

The use of full size industrial equipment to work on as well as a fully equipped maintenance shop allow the attendee to perform tasks that perfect their skills in an environment where time can be taken to cement the learning for future use.

On-site Training

Our version of a traveling road-show.

Requirements:
  • A quiet classroom
  • Screen for a projector or large flat screen monitor
  • Minimum 6 trainees
  • Tables with a capacity of at least 300#, able to handle typical maintenance tools &/or equipment
We pack up your class and bring it to your location. We typically arrive a day in advance and will work with your people to unload and set up your classroom. We might ask you to supply some hand tools or shop equipment but we do everything else. You will need a quiet classroom, a screen for a our projector or a flat screen large monitor, and at least 6 people. At the end of the class we ask your help to load our truck and get us back on the road. Keep in mind it usually takes a complete day to pack up and drive to you, then two or three days for the course and another day back to our location and unload. For courses that require our heavier machinery, our focus is primarily on the East Coast of the United States and we have experience in transporting our “hands-on” courses from Maine to Florida. Powerpoint on-site presentations are available at any location in the USA.

To get started in setting up an on-site course, give us a call and we’ll gather all information needed to provide you a quick quote spelling everything out. We promise a formal quote within 48 hours including exact details for what we bring and what you must have available.

For scheduling and cost calculation, we’ll work with your schedule to identify a mutual acceptable time to schedule the course. As for cost, we take the listed price of our course and multiply by the number of attendees and then multiply by a distance and complexity factor to arrive at your final price. Courses that are typical powerpoint presentations (no hands-on) have a much reduced distance and complexity multiplier. It’s fast and simple. As for payment, typically we ask for a purchase order from your purchasing department.
